Brazil Nuts

It is the fruit of an Amazonian giant, the Brazil nut tree, which can grow more than 100 feet tall and six feet around.

Selection

Brazil nuts are harvested like a giant coconut and weigh up to 5 lbs.  They take about 15 months to develop.

 

Storage

Store shelled Brazil nuts in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to one month.
Freeze-shelled nuts for up to one year.

Benefits

Sodium free; excellent source of magnesium, copper, selenium and phosphorous; good source of manganese, vitamin E and thiamin (vitamin B1).
